Tiberius Bound

"This is the story of Tiberius Claudius Nero, the step-son of Augustus Caesar, who, despite obstacles and his own reluctance, became the second emperor of Rome. His public life spanned the tumultuous period of transition from the Roman Republic to the Emperorship, and his private life took a series of unusual and surprising turns."

Rome & America:
The Great Republics

Rome and America

In innumerable ways, the United States of America is the political and social descendant of the Roman Republic, and the influences of Rome reverberate throughout our world. Yet while America reflects the heights of Roman structures, ideas, and principles, we also now face a host of problems similar to those that the Romans faced-immigration and citizenship, the consequences of slavery, the growing divide between classes, the conflict between conservatives and progressives, and the challenges of being a superpower.

The Detective's Sons

"Dennis Carbonaro, a young man who hopes to become a lawyer, is the son of Dominic Carbonaro, a first-grade NYPD homicide detective. When Dennis’ older brother, Ray, is arrested and tried for robbery and murder, Dennis is drawn into the case and concocts a plan to help Ray’s defense."

The Constable Has Blundered is a polemic arguing against the exclusionary rule.

The Crisis of Police Liability Lawsuits is a tutorial advising police officers regarding civil lawsuits against them and their departments.

Criminal Law, Procedure, and Evidence provides a complete view of US legal principles. It presents as a cohesive whole the interrelationships between constitutional principles, statutory criminal laws, procedural law, and common law evidentiary doctrines. The fully revised second edition includes discussion questions and hypothetical scenarios to check learning.

Rome and America: What the Fall of the Roman Republic Portends for the United States examines the parallels between the two greatest and longest-lasting republics in history. It does not draw the familiar comparison of America to Imperial Rome, which has been done many times, and it does not forecast that our nation will fall as Rome ultimately fell. It is not the Rome of the Emperors but of the Republic that is relevant to our times. The book examines the parallels between the Republics as they were founded, grew, and prospered. It examines their strengths and weaknesses; the environments from which they emerged; the similarities of their constitutional governments; the values and practices they had in common; their military campaigns; and political conflicts.

The lives of prominent individuals are highlighted, and parallels are drawn between consequential Romans and their American counterparts. But the book is not a collection of biographies; it examines the political, social, and economic factors that affected both nations; it considers the successes and mistakes of the Romans and their implications for American society.

Last, the book questions whether our democratic-republican government will disintegrate as the Roman Republic disintegrated, whether it will grow stronger despite its similarities to the Roman experience, or whether it will transform itself into a system of government akin to Rome’s emperorship.

Tiberius Bound is an historical novel about the life of the Second Emperor of Rome, and his scandalous reign
